"Anne-Marie Kornachuk completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec in 1993. Since graduation she has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Canada and the US.
Anne-Marie Kornachuk paints in more traditional oils and always at a 1:1 scale relating to the body. Her work addresses the human body in various states and modes (styles?) of dress and undress and questions the role of clothing and one's personal relationship to one's clothing and the identity one chooses and allows oneself to construct based on this construct. This is made all the more personal and important in the fact that her paintings are in every important way self-portraits.The role of clothing in one's life is, through such careful self-analysis and focus, expanded to the level of a critique of contemporary society. The work is a far more subtle critique of humanity - but remains perhaps some of the more fascinating investigations in the show for it's modesty of statement.
She is represented by Trias Gallery, Toronto, Ontario, Galerie St. Laurent + Hill, Ottawa, Ontario, C4 Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, California, USA, and Miller Gallery, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. Her work is found in many collections around the world.
Anne-Marie was elected as a member of the Ontario Society of Artists in 2000. She served as councilor, Vice President, and President of the society. She is also the Executive Director of the Art School of Peterborough (ASOP), and teaches part-time at ASOP, Lakefield College School, and privately. Anne-Marie has lived and worked in Lakefield, Ontario since 2000, with her husband. She is an avid equestrian and a dedicated student of dressage, spending much of her free time training and having fun with her horse."
